Annual Sports Meet 2006

On behalf of the NJC Aerius House Activities Team (HAT) and the 12 NJC 39th Student Council Aerius Councillors, I would like to extend a HUGE vote of thanks to all those (especially my dear A01 mates) that actually came down and stayed on to support AERIUS in the sports meet. I know we did not actually perform as well as we did during the Road Run, but all of us really appreciate the invaluable effort and loud cheering (despite our small size!) by you guys nonethless! Your presence, no matter how active or otherwise you were, certainly made a BIG difference for our house and school spirit! On the same note, I really hope that all of you will continue to support AERIUS in whatever upcoming inter-House events there are because no matter how much you may hate Aerius (I hope not!) or think that we're absolutely hopeless (we won our fair share of the pie too!), our life in NJC and thereby AERIUS is as good as we want it to be. If all of us put in effort to make it memorable, hyper and fun, it will certainly be so! So do continue to support us! Same goes to our senior class if you read this, 05A01! Cheering does wonders to relieve mugging stress!

On a more personal note, I would like to thank you guys once again for coming down, especially to (in alphabatical order) Bernice, Carmen, Chantalle, Desmond, Fadiah, June, Hong Yi, Hanson, Huiling, Hui Xian, Natania, Wang Mo and Weizheng as well as whoever whom I had missed out (so sorry!) for joining in and helping me in cheering for AERIUS, especially when it came to singing the Aerius House Song! We've shown that A01 is a class which is loyal and committed, definitely! For those who did not turn up for one reason or another (other than those excused by the school), I must admit in all honesty that I am somewhat disappointed because it did reflect rather badly on our class. You may argue that it's pointless, or that other classes had even far worse turn up, but you know that essentially you have chosen to do something which you know is not exactly the best thing to do and that those aforementioned reasons are but blatant excuses to worm our way out of something that is not directly nor tangibly beneficial to us. This is not a reprimand, but rather an urge to all of you to try and participate more in House activities and eventually College activities because the verve should not end at the class level itself! We were very enthusiatic during the first three months, and there's no reason why we can't be rah-rah as we used to be! Ultimately we must remember that we cannot be ego-centric because there's always a bigger picture, a greater stage out there which we all have a role to play in - and since most things in life are interdependent and symbiotic - it will eventually come back to us! Like a famouse adage says, a single thread in a tapestry plays an equally important role although its purpose may not be that obvious in a pattern of a grand design!

So as one of the last few words as your CT Representative, I humbly urge all of you to be more enthusiatic so that we can look back fondly some day at the 'good old days of past' which we all shared together as one class, one Aerius House and one NJC! And don't forget about who you want to elect as the new CT Rep and House Affiliate on Friday or so! I think it's high time for me to step down as CT Rep because with my new responsibility as EXCO Member and Honorary Secretary of the 39th Student Council, I am worried that I will not be able to serve you guys as a class well because A01 is such a great class and you guys do not deserve to be shortchanged! As for House Affiliates, it's a new system whereby a class "House Captain" would be democratically elected by the class themselves as with the CT Rep to facilitate and coordinate all inter and intra-House activities along with the main AERIUS HAT. This person should be responsible and rah-rah when it comes to such activities so elect wisely! The HATs of all houses are coming with new incentives and benefits for their fellow house members to fuel enthusiasm towards the House and eventually towards the College, and I can assure you that AERIUS falls nothing short!

On a side note, please cooperate with Serene for Cultural Mapping! And thos who have yet to hand in the travel indemnity form to Ms Suhaili, please do so ASAP - a nil reply is required even if you are not travelling out of Singapore during the June break.

Cheers and with much Love! (:

i know jafnie said no personal entries, and this is not a personal entry. right.
i dont find an entry to motivate the class anything near personal actually, so.. i hope im not violating the rules by taking the liberty to, you know, say something here. =)

A01! i know its been a stressful week for some, actually most, what with the tests and in-class essays and va's and i dont know what's that are so due this week. and of course, not to mention funtasia, which i guess everyone is very very stressed about.
now now, people, hang in there! its on saturday! and its already... thursday night! another one and a half days and we're there! and you see, next monday we have a holiday and so its a four-day week and then we have the holidays!
i know its tough, but its gonna be worse on saturday when all of us will be so so tired.. so just take wonderful care of yourselves and HANG IN THERE! if you need a hug or something you can always find me. its free for all a01 peeps. *smiles.
i know everyone has done a whole load and really, you are appreciated!! =D
so thanks to everyone, especially those who are so stressed up by this already.

SAY A01!

Hey guys, I know these past few week has really been taxing and even frustrating, but I really hope all of you can still participate in class activities. It's a shame if our class identity and spirit is broken just because we succumb to the pressures of schoolwork and mugging. More importantly, if we work together, this will get done much faster, and much better. So I really hope to get your support for the following:

1. FUNTASIA:
It's on Saturday and we don't have much time! We need to buy supplies (especially for milkshake), prepare for stall deco, MASSIVE publicity (we will need to fight with the other classes to get sales!) and logistics! So for those who are free tomorrow, PLEASE PLEASE do come down together in the afternoon (say 4+ or so?) to discuss and work on the decor and publicity. We might need to paint class banners for Funtasia! I will also need people to set-up counters during breaks and lunch times to take pre-orders. For those not doing the pre-orders station duty during the breaks and lunch times, MOTIVATE your friends to buy from us alright? Friday will be a LONG day of preparation, so please be prepared to stay till night time as we have tons of logistical stuff to settle.

WE HAVE, AND WE MUST MAKE THIS A SUCCESS FOR OUR CLASS AND FOR NJC!

2. Cultural Mapping:
Please co-operate with Serene for this NE Project alright? We need to form groups and start work by next week, as Mr Leong (our teacher adviser for Cultural Mapping, yes, the one who knows that I'm from Catholic High) will be meeting us next week. We also need to churn out preliminary work by first week of June. Hong Yi and I can't contribute from 27th onwards as we will be gone for a whole solid month in Germany as part of our LEP studies.

I really hope to get your support and help. I can't possibly do and coordinate all these alone because I also have Council duties such as College Day, Funtasia (I need to help out in running the programmes and decor!) and Council Investiture. I know all of us are busy and have commitments in one thing/way or another, but please do make sacrifice for the sake of our class, EH-OH-ONE. Remember how we used to sing almost everyday the Aerius House Song and "National Dream" during the PAE and early JAE days?

Remember that we're a family, that "shoulders to shoulders friends are we" and that "united we stand, divided we still stand" because of "our passion for Aerius/06A01"!

SAY A01, SAY WE ARE THE BEST, SAY WE ARE THE VERY BEST! LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM!

(Well, actually, let us see our class succeed for Funtasia! Thanks to Karen and Decor Comm members for helping with the preliminary promotion posters.)

WE can do it guys..

Hey all, i know this week has been really tough on you guys, especially with the VAs, funtasia and all the silly tests that we had to take.

Hang in there you all. We'll do fine.

Just like to thank Chantalle for taking the initiative to put up the class-T designs, Alicia for baking the cakes, Jafnie and Lynn for being ever-so-responsible, and of course the class for putting in as much effort to help out in any possible way.

Try and make it for the history trip people!

Daily Digest

Hey guys, after much deliberation and thought, I guess it's best that we have a class blog since we don't really meet each other together as one whole class save for Civics Tutorials thanks to our dysphoric timetables. Anyway, the main purpose of this blog is to disseminate important notices regarding to class administration matters and perhaps important reminders so that we do not have to put things on hold till Civics Tutorial (as in the case for Funtasia!). As like any other blogs, here are some ground rules:

1. No personal rantings, as this is a class blog and is meant to be a platform for us to inform each others of important announcements or reminders. However, if you wish to upload any cool photos of 06A01 or NJC or anything related to our class, feel free to do so!

2. Please use proper English, be it in terms of grammar or spelling. It's quite unsightly to read a blog which uses things like "woRxX" or "i lub a01" although we know your intent is good. It's good practice for GP and KI essays! (:

With that said, I guess I shall get the ball rolling. Perhaps future announcements by subject representatives or other individuals can follow the following format?
